About Marty

Marty L Ward, CSW, CSSW is a noted author, dynamic certified international trainer and speaker, renowned Transformation Strategist, and founder of the 5013c Confidence Builds Success Academy, Inc. Her mission, vision and, as it has turns out, her destiny, is to make bullying obsolete and civility a way of life.

Peer Leadership and Intervention Programs

Marty began her career as a 3rd grade teacher and soon moved on to earn her master’s in social work. While a school based social worker at two high schools in New York, she initiated and ran school-wide peer leadership training that decreased discipline problems, parenting workshops that improved parent/child communication skills, the Renaissance Program that promoted academic performance, a drug prevention program that encouraged interest in healthy, fun activities, and held 8 Children of Dysfunctional Families’ Groups a week to improved coping skills and academic performance.

Having earned a 100-ton US Coast Guard License and been a sailor most of her life, in the summers and on weekends, Marty owned and operated a sailing school on the Hudson River for 10 years. She designed programs for Autistic and emotionally challenged youth that had them discovering new Talents, Abilities and Gifts (TAGs), as they raised the sails and steered the boat.

Civility a Way of Life

She has created a proven internationally validated training that has over 80,000 teachers, parents, pastors, entrepreneurs, and children around the world believing in themselves vs the mean words of the bully. They have been taught to honor and value everyone for how Talented, Able and Gifted (TAGs) they are and to know that “BEING ME MATTERS!”

She has been in the Huffington Post, Florida Today, Everything Brevard Magazine, CNBC, ABC, FOX, Channel13 News, and Ugandan National TV and radio. She has received the Business Acceleration Award from Business Acceleration Network and named an International Peace Federation Ambassador.

In the United States, she offers personal and professional Civility Leadership Training to educators, parents, children, and nonprofit organizations as well as coaching parents, teachers, administrators online and in-person. In Uganda, there are 5 TAG for Change offices, and Civility Leadership Training is offered at Kayiwa International University to emerging teachers.

In Marty’s Own Words - My Mission is My Destiny

I call it God’s breadcrumbs – those incidents, coincidences that seem to happen so randomly but end up being the right and perfect experiences to evolve you into the person you become. My mission and vision to create confident kids and adults who believe in themselves so that they never believe the mean words of the bully turned out to be my destiny. SEE MORE

In 2007, I was at the top of the pyramid in Egypt in the King’s Chamber. I had a vision of me in a long white dress with a thousand children at my feet. I had been a teacher and social worker in the past, but not in 2007 so I wasn’t sure what that vision was all about.

My Whole World Stopped

In 2011, my whole world stopped. I read about Ashlynn Connor, a little 10 year-old girl who was on the honor roll and a cheerleader, killed herself rather confront the bully at school one day. I cried out, “Enough!” Not another bright light need be snuffed out nor even dimmed.

I knew that no matter what the nay sayers, dream squashers or skeptics said, nothing would stop me from working to eliminate bullying around the world.

TAGs Turned My Life Around

Bully has a long-term impact on lives. In fact, due to believing the bullies in my life who told me I would never make it and that I didn’t know what I was talking about, I went from being a very successful yacht broker, real estate investor, and community leader worth over a million dollars to having $7.41 in my bank account.

On the day I realized I was out of integrity with myself because I was not being who I was meant to be, I spent twelve hours writing the first book I published. In doing that, I unlocked my creative potential – my Talents, Abilities, and Gifts (TAGs)SM. Since then, I turned my life and business around and used the TAG System I designed to guide hundreds of entrepreneurs to increase their income 10 – 300% in just three months.

My Destiny Was Realized

In 2015, Pastor Buni Alex emailed me from Tanzania, Listen to this, he had found my book Get Clear Confident Get Going on a pile of books to be burned. He took it off the pile and read it. He said, “it changed my life and I want to know more.” He had been bullied too.

I began training him over the internet and by 2018, he had built a TAG for Change Movement in Uganda. (See Africa for details) He said all was going well – the children and parents and teachers were happier, but he wanted me to come and do training. After raising money to bring water filters and soccer balls to the schools where our program was taught, for my birthday on March 1st 2018, I went to Uganda. When Buni sent me my itinerary, he said on March 5th I would be at the headwaters of the Nile at a school and be speaking to a 1000 children!  My destiny was realized.

As of September 2019, we are in 60 schools and as many churches in Uganda. In March 2020, I will be returning to Africa to expand the program into Kenya. We are all working together to create confident kids who believe in themselves rather than the mean words and deeds of the bully.

The gift that my own experience with being bullied taught me is that you can’t stop the bully from saying or doing whatever they want to say or do. I realized that if we do not believe the bully we are not hurt.
